Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Three to five years laboratory experience (within the last 5 years) in a mid-complexity laboratory setting with special emphasis on knowledge and experience in the use of document management systems (e.g. SoftTech DMS). Knowledge and experience in Anatomical Pathology and/or Cytopathology. Good working knowledge of Quality Management Systems and external assessment requirements, proficiency testing, troubleshooting complex problems, key performance indicators and metrics, non-conforming event management, patient safety activities, quality improvement initiatives, communications and presentations and conducting effective meetings. Position also requires an understanding of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta Standards for Diagnostic Laboratory Accreditation and the knowledge of the steps a department must take to ensure they are compliant with the Standards. Intermediate to advanced MS Office skills required. Proven time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated organizational, analytical reasoning, and decision-making skills. Attainment of a Quality Management System Certificate or equivalent post-secondary education in Quality Management Systems, or knowledge of Quality Management Systems. Knowledge and use of the AP QA Plan and APL Reporting and Learning System (RLS) for reporting, investigation and improvement activities. Project management skills.
