Required Qualifications:

Completion of a Bachelor's degree plus advanced diploma in Clinical Genetics. Active or eligible for registration with College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Successful completion of the Genetics Technology Graduate Diploma Program through the Michener Institute for Applied Health Sciences (Toronto, Ontario) OR the Clinical Genetics Technology Post Diploma Program at the BC Institute of Technology (Burnaby, BC) OR equivalent. Work experience in a clinical Cytogenetics and/or clinical Molecular Genetics laboratory required. Current clinical laboratory experience and knowledge in these techniques is preferred. Attention to detail, aptitude and proficiency in manual and automated techniques is required. The ability to recognize testing/procedural anomalies and act appropriately to resolve these is required. Ability to do advanced maintenance with minimal supervision is an asset. Must have the ability to operate Windows.

You understand and maintain a working knowledge of analytical techniques and demonstrate excellent problem solving, decision making and troubleshooting skills. You are an organized, independent worker and strong team player committed to providing quality patient care. Approachable and reliable, your communication and interpersonal skills enable you to deal courteously and tactfully with team members and other Alberta Health Services staff.
