Required Qualifications:

Completion of a Bachelor's degree plus advanced diploma in Clinical Genetics. Active or eligible for registration with College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) certification in Clinical Genetics may be acceptable as an equivalent to an advanced diploma in Clinical Genetics. Experience in human cytogenetic processing and analysis including proper use of ISCN nomenclature and specialized computer imaging platforms for karyotyping and FISH analysis. Experience with tissue culture techniques. Proven critical thinking, analytical, problem solving, planning, and decision making skills. Strong attention to detail as well as superior organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize work and deliver accurate work under stressful conditions. Demonstrated ability to deal with conflicting and changing priorities, deadlines, and duties. English fluency with exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Technical knowledge of appropriate methodology and testing techniques applied in a molecular diagnostic laboratory. Two years of recent experience in a diagnostic genetic laboratory performing cytogenetic or molecular genetic testing and interpretation. Five years of experience with cancer chromosome and FISH analysis. Experience with next generation sequencing.
