Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:Grade 12 Diploma. Excellent computer and keyboarding skills. Recent, relevant experience performing procedures in a core laboratory. Laboratory procedures include phlebotomy (venipuncture and micropuncture), specimen collection, preparation and referral. Experience performing ECG and Holter monitoring testing. Ability to understand and follow instruction and procedures. Effectively communicate in English both verbally and in writing. Proficiently operate a computer to input patient data. Ability to work independently in a dynamic work environment. Ability to work collaboratively and tactfully in a pleasant manner with patients/clients, families, staff members and personnel from other departments. Evidence of initiative and flexibility. Evidence of thoroughness, accuracy, speed and attention to detail in performance of duties. Evidence of responsibility in dealing with confidential information.
Preferred Qualifications:Meditech LIS experience preferred. Medical terminology and experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
