Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Graduate of a Medical Laboratory Science (BSc MLS) or an approved School of Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) is required. Current registration with CMLTA is required. Attention to detail, aptitude and proficiency in manual extraction and automated techniques is required. The ability to recognize testing/procedural anomalies and act appropriately to resolve these is required. Must have the ability to operate Windows. You are an organized, independent worker and strong team player committed to providing quality patient care. You understand and maintain a working knowledge of analytical techniques and demonstrate excellent problem solving, decision making and troubleshooting skills. You are approachable and reliable. Your communication and interpersonal skills enable you to deal courteously and tactfully with team members and other Alberta Health Services staff.

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems and general computer application is an asset. Current clinical laboratory experience and knowledge in these techniques is preferred. Ability to do advanced maintenance with minimal supervision is an asset.
