Alberta Precision Laboratories has an exciting opportunity to lead and contribute to optimum laboratory outcomes as the Clinical Supervisor overseeing Hematology, Transfusion Medicine, and Chemistry in Red Deer, Alberta. As Clinical Supervisor, you will lead and mentor others, fostering a culture of performance and cooperation to achieve Laboratory Services’ goals. In this role, you will make key decisions as you ensure day-to-day operations run smoothly as you plan, implement, and evaluate processes, procedures, and strategies for program delivery and overall team effectiveness. Your excellent communication skills help facilitate and mediate relationships and, where needed, resolve conflicts and manage change in support of enhanced team outcomes. As the Clinical Supervisor, you will be responsible and accountable for the direction, organization implementation, and evaluation of your areas of responsibility: Hematology, Transfusion Medicine, and Chemistry. You will have direct leadership responsibility and make decisions as you lead, coach, mentor, facilitate, and build towards a highly functional and collaborative team. Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, a key aspect of this position is ongoing people management. This includes ensuring the efficient use of human resources in providing the most effective and efficient delivery of client/patient service and care, recruitment of in-scope staff, payroll and other administrative functions, and addressing complaints and performance issues. This includes performance appraisal, commendations and corrections, attendance awareness, privacy or other investigations as required. You will follow applicable human resource policies and apply the appropriate collective agreements. Providing direct support to the Site/Department Laboratory technical leaders, as the Clinical Supervisor you will support the Quality Management System implemented by Laboratory Services by contributing to accreditation related activities, as well as strategic planning and change leadership. You will perform advanced problem solving, referring to the appropriate level of clinical and technical expertise, identify trends and patterns, and implement. standard practices. In this role, you will also be responsible for project management such as overseeing implementation of technology (methodologies, equipment and tests) and processes in areas of responsibility that ensures efficiency, patient care, safety, and cost control.

Required Qualifications:

Current registration with CMLTA as a Medical Laboratory Technologist. A minimum of 5 years in a laboratory role ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity.

Effective communicator with strong organizational and influential skills, be client focused and have a commitment to providing quality services. Leadership skills including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making; be comfortable with taking responsibility, coaching and teaching, and have the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Proven ability to foster partnerships and to achieve organizational goals. Must be well-organized and proficient with computer. Ability to manage human and physical resources within an operating and unionized environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous supervisory experience within an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity.
