Required Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years of experience working in a Genetics laboratory (or similar) as a Ph.D. in Genetics or a related field plus certification in Cytogenetics by the Canadian College of Medical Geneticists (CCMG), the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG), or equivalent certification. With the merging of molecular and cytogenetic training programs, APL would support the successful candidate, who in the future, would like to pursue dual certification. Preference will be given to candidates with a minimum of 5 years’ experience and possessing dual certification in molecular/cytogenetics and those with demonstrated relevant clinical and academic experience.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Candidates must be able to demonstrate effective communication skills, experience in quality assurance, operational efficiency and appropriateness of care. Ability to work in a dynamic, changing environment that allows for the delivery of quality service. Ability to balance service and quality imperative in a resource-sensitive environment. Ability to work collaboratively, building trust in working relationships, and being an overall team player. This challenging position requires excellent analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills to manage all aspects of a fast-paced laboratory environment. Leadership skills are essential to ensure effective and consistent service delivery to serve the diverse needs of the clinical and academic communities.


Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years of experience working in a Genetics laboratory (or similar) as a Ph.D. in Genetics or a related field plus certification in Cytogenetics by the Canadian College of Medical Geneticists (CCMG), the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG), or equivalent certification.
