Your Opportunity:

The Clinical Supervisor, Provincial Laboratory for Public Health, is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and for all leadership aspects of people management in their respective areas. This position reports to the Manager, Provincial Laboratory for Public Health (North Sector). The Supervisor will assist the Manager with the development of project plans and facilitates implementation of approved processes. The Clinical Supervisor supports the vision, mission, and strategic business plan of Alberta Public Laboratories (APL) and will develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders which may include leaders at Alberta Precision Laboratories, Alberta Health Services, and Alberta Health.

Description:

Key responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to recruitment and succession planning, staff development, performance management, change management, collective agreement interpretation, financial management, and strategic planning. In addition, the supervisor oversees day-to-day operations, quality standards, staff training and competency, assesses resources required to meet demands of increased testing and collaborates with others.

Required Qualifications:

Formal education in a laboratory health care discipline (Medical Laboratory Technologist, Combined Lab/Xray Technologist, Medical Laboratory Assistant. Maintenance of regulatory certification where required by education. CMLTA registration as required if engaged in the supervision of regulated members who provide professional services to the public. Demonstrated leadership, conflict resolution and change management skills. Demonstrated engagement of team members supplemented by strong communication skills both written and verbal. Demonstrated ability to build, foster and maintain professional relationships. Excellent organizational skills and ability or complete tasks accurately within a varied, dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

A minimum of 3 to 5 years’ leadership experience in a supervisory or leadership role. Demonstrated understanding of organizational strategies and proven ability to frame strategic questions and develop action plans. Experience with maintaining quality systems within a laboratory to meet accreditation requirements for the CAP, CPSA and CALA. Process improvement project experience within a healthcare setting.
