This is a working level position utilizing technical skills and judgment performing a diverse range of diagnostic procedures in the Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Transfusion Medicine, and Specimen Procurement and Diagnostic Imaging, within the scope of practice of a Combined Medical Laboratory X-Ray Technologist. The successful candidate will perform routine bench duties in accordance with laboratory and diagnostic imaging policies and procedures to ensure a high quality, accurate and timely result. Ensures annual competencies are completed within specified timelines. Provides instruction and collects specimens ensuring sample integrity. Performs quality control and assurance practices and maintains records as required. Operates, maintains, and performs troubleshooting on a variety of laboratory and x-ray instruments to ensure optimal function. Monitors department supply inventory and acts appropriately to maintain. Participates in the validation and assessment of procedures and equipment under the direction of the senior techs and other leaders. Collaborates on the preparation of manuals and SOP.
Description:
As a Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technologist I, you will perform procedures in both the laboratory and in diagnostic imaging, typically in rural sites. You will work as a member of the inter-professional team and be responsible for collecting and analyzing biological specimens, conducting X-ray examinations, ECGs and reporting results. Your responsibilities include preparing patients, venipuncture and micropuncture, routine equipment maintenance, maintaining supplies and performing quality control procedures as required.

Completion of diploma from an accredited program in Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technology (CLXT). Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Combined Laboratory and X-ray Technologists (ACCLXT).
Additional Required Qualifications:Required to take call and respond to call backs within 30 minutes. Experience performing phlebotomy in the last year.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience with Beaker and Radiant modules of Epic in the last 2 years. Experience performing ECGs in the last 2 years. Experience on Vitros 3400, Sysmex with Caresphere, Wellsky, Triage meter, i-Stat. Experience on FUJI CR and Phillips X-Ray unit.
