Your Opportunity:

You’re precise, analytical, detail-oriented – just the kind of person we need at Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) located in Sundre. You work well under pressure and are able to prioritize workload and adapt to stressful and emergency situations using tact and diplomacy. You can follow lab and diagnostic imaging processes and procedures exactly, including hematology, chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, specimen collection, preparation, referral, cardiology and general diagnostic imaging. Myron Thompson Health Centre is a busy site where you will work both independently and as part of a team utilizing your organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. The position includes Days, Evenings, Weekends and On Call duties. When on call, local offsite accommodation is available providing a comfortable, quiet place to rest. As a place to put down your own roots, Sundre offers you: A fabulous location with easy access to larger centers such as Red Deer and Calgary. A beautifully treed riverside setting, and easy access to Rocky Mountain Playground trails, parks and a good variety of recreation facilities and options. Myron Thompson Health Centre is an acute care hospital with a busy emergency department as well as acute care, and long-term care departments providing care. Description:

As a Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technologist I, you will perform procedures in both the laboratory and in diagnostic imaging, typically in rural sites. You will work as a member of the inter-professional team and be responsible for collecting and analyzing biological specimens, conducting X-ray examinations, ECGs and reporting results. Your responsibilities include preparing patients, venipuncture and micropuncture, routine equipment maintenance, maintaining supplies and performing quality control procedures as required.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of diploma from an accredited program in Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technology (CLXT). Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Combined Laboratory and X-ray Technologists (ACCLXT).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Recent relevant experience as a Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technologist performing procedures in a core laboratory including hematology, expanded chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, specimen collection, preparation and general diagnostic imaging, including hospital affiliated training programs. Recent cardiology experience including ECG and Holter Monitor. Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification. Proven interpersonal, oral and written communication skills are required. Excellent public relation and a service-oriented manner are essential. Must be able to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with patients/clients, families, staff, inter-disciplinary team members and personnel from other departments in a fast-paced and changing environment. Proven analytic and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, logical/methodical work habits, and demonstrated ability to work independently are required. Candidate must be well organized and flexible. Current phlebotomy experience including venipuncture, micropuncture, blood culture and Type and Screen on all ages and patient types.

Preferred Qualifications:

Recent and Relevant Experience with EPIC and Wellsky LIS. Recent DR experience. Familiar with Sysmex XS-1000i, ACL Elite Pro, Ortho Vitros XT 3400, Access 2, Clinitek Advantus. Recent experience with MUSE, Cardioday, PACS.
