Your Opportunity:
The Manning Community Health Centre is actively hiring a CLXT I to work in the site Laboratory and Diagnostic Imaging departments. APL currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. Relocation assistance may be available. This role works a variety of shifts. Located approximately 73 km northwest of Peace River and situated in the valley of the Notikewin River, lies the Town of Manning. A population of 1256, this thriving community has a fire hall, RCMP detachment, mayor, and a 44-bed senior citizen’s lodge. Called the Land of the Mighty Moose, Manning is one of the newest towns in the North, located on beautiful riverbanks. Manning has its own hospital, built in 2003, with 10 acute care beds and 16 continuing care beds. There are a number of annual events that attract others from the surrounding areas. The Annual Battle River Fair and Rodeo includes amusement rides, demolition derby, parade, and a dance that are widely attended. The abundant wildlife makes it a hunter’s paradise, as well as to campers and outdoor enthusiasts. There is also a popular skill hill for skiing, snowboarding, racing, and ski jumping. The golf course along the valley is a tourist attraction for golfers and tourists travelling in the North.
Description:
As a Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technologist I, you will perform procedures in both the laboratory and in diagnostic imaging, typically in rural sites. You will work as a member of the inter-professional team and be responsible for collecting and analyzing biological specimens, conducting X-ray examinations, ECGs and reporting results. Your responsibilities include preparing patients, venipuncture and micropuncture, routine equipment maintenance, maintaining supplies and performing quality control procedures as required.

Completion of diploma from an accredited program in Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technology (CLXT). Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Combined Laboratory and X-ray Technologists (ACCLXT).
Additional Required Qualifications:Ability to work various shifts including days, weekends, and take call by responding within 30 minutes. Must be a member in good standing and current registration/eligible for registration with ACCLXT. Ability to work with people in a health care environment with professionalism and respect. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Proven interpersonal skills and the ability to get along with a wide variety of people. Proven organizational, time management and sound decision-making skills required. Proven initiative and motivation required. Flexible, reliable and dependable. Computer skills required. Ability to access and proficiently use Microsoft Word and Excel programs. Ability to provide a positive and friendly approach that will enable you to deal with challenging situations with empathy and sincerity. Ability to work effectively independently, and within a team, effectively managing his or her time and setting priorities when faced with multiple tasks and deadlines over a period of time. Demonstrated understanding of team approach to patient services. Diplomacy, independence, and organization required.
Preferred Qualifications:Recent training or previous CLXT experience and preferably in a rural setting is desirable.
