Your Opportunity:

Wellness Centre is located in the bustling community of Okotoks, Alberta. Oilfields hospital is located in the quaint community of Black Diamond, Alberta, Okotoks Health and The hospital and Wellness Center provides services to a multitude of patients. Both sites are within an hour drive to the Rocky Mountains these communities offer rural living with opportunities to enjoy the city or the mountain lifestyle. As a member of the interdisciplinary team this position, utilize your communication skills as you work collaboratively with patients and clients and families, all within a fast-paced changing environment. Demonstrate a customer service attitude and delivery of excellent customer service by effectively meeting customer (internal and external) client needs by means of building productive and respectful customer relations and taking responsibility for customer satisfaction. With your strong attention to detail, you have an ability to organize, set priorities, and multitask throughout the day while working independently and as part of the team. The scope of practice is a continuum ranging from basic to complex procedures and activities within the x-ray and laboratory, utilizing your critical thinking and troubleshooting abilities. In this role you will have the opportunity to work both day and evening shifts, during the week and weekends as well as on-call, as assigned. This position’s responsibilities include collecting specimens, performing sample handling and manipulation, ECG’s, reporting results, and performing x-ray examinations within the scope of practice of a CLXT as required. Employees shall maintain confidentiality of all APL/AHS information in accordance with HIA, FOIP and other privacy legislation in effect and shall comply at all times with APL/AHS’s information privacy and information security policies.

Description:

As a Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technologist I, you will perform procedures in both the laboratory and in diagnostic imaging, typically in rural sites. You will work as a member of the inter-professional team and be responsible for collecting and analyzing biological specimens, conducting X-ray examinations, ECGs and reporting results. Your responsibilities include preparing patients, venipuncture and micropuncture, routine equipment maintenance, maintaining supplies and performing quality control procedures as required.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of diploma from an accredited program in Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technology (CLXT). Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Combined Laboratory and X-ray Technologists (ACCLXT).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Current BCLS-HCP certification required. Proven ability to work within a computer-based environment using Microsoft office suit including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint. Demonstrate proficiency in core laboratory theory including hematology, chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, specimen procurement and handling, and transfusion medicine dispense by applying theoretical knowledge to practical scenarios. Current BCLS-HCP certification required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum 1 year experience as a Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technologist within a rural hospital facility is an asset. Connect Care Epic training and experience.
