The Airdrie Community Health Centre provides a wide range of health services to residents and families living in and around Airdrie, including 24 hour Urgent Care, Public Health, Home Care and Mental Health. The laboratory plays a key role in the interdisciplinary team within the health center and community. Reporting to the Urgent Care Lab Supervisor or Manager, and under the direction of the Urgent Care Medical Laboratory Technologist II, the Combined Laboratory and X-ray Technologist I will be responsible for providing exemplary patient care by applying the regional policies and procedures. Employees shall maintain confidentiality of all APL/AHS information and shall comply at all times with APL/AHS’s information privacy and information security policies. This position primarily works night shift rotation covering both the Laboratory and Diagnostic Imaging departments with a rotation of 7 nights on, 7 nights off.
Description:
As a Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technologist I, you will perform procedures in both the laboratory and in diagnostic imaging, typically in rural sites. You will work as a member of the inter-professional team and be responsible for collecting and analyzing biological specimens, conducting X-ray examinations, ECGs and reporting results. Your responsibilities include preparing patients, venipuncture and micropuncture, routine equipment maintenance, maintaining supplies and performing quality control procedures as required.

Completion of diploma from an accredited program in Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technology (CLXT). Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Combined Laboratory and X-ray Technologists (ACCLXT).
Additional Required Qualifications:Proven ability to work within a computer-based environment using programs including Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint and OneDrive. Experience in core laboratory theory including hematology, chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, and transfusion medicine dispense. Experience in reading manual differentials. Current experience in Hematology and Chemistry within the last 2 years. Knowledge and experience in diagnostic imaging general radiography within the last 2 years. Current BCLS-HCP certification required.
Preferred Qualifications:2-year experience in an Urgent Centre Testing area, Rapid Response Lab or Rural Lab. Connect Care training including Beaker and WellSky TM non-testing Technologist.
