Your Opportunity:
Boyle McCauley PSC is located within the Radius Community Health and Healing (previously Boyle Street). The location of the lab provides essential laboratory and diagnostic imaging services to Edmonton’s most vulnerable individuals. Outpatient laboratory services to the surrounding communities are also provided following in suite of all Patient Service Centers. You will be responsible for collecting and analyzing urine specimens, conducting general X-ray examinations, ECGs and reporting results. This also includes venipuncture and micropuncture, maintaining supplies and performing quality control procedures as required. If you are organized, adaptable, and can work effectively under pressure. Able to prioritize tasks and manage your time, you have technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills necessary in medical laboratories today. Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) is looking for an individual like you for the role of a Combined Laboratory and X-ray Technologist. Equally comfortable working independently and as part of a team, you can develop and maintain positive working relationships with your colleagues and other healthcare professionals you may interact with. You have good judgement and decision-making skills and will conduct yourself according to the Alberta Health Services Code of Conduct and the APL Values of Kindness, Inclusion, Innovation, Agility, and Accuracy. This location’s operational hours are Monday to Friday 0800-1600 and closed on weekends and Statutory Holidays.
Description:
As a Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technologist I, you will perform procedures in both the laboratory and in diagnostic imaging, typically in rural sites. You will work as a member of the inter-professional team and be responsible for collecting and analyzing biological specimens, conducting X-ray examinations, ECGs and reporting results. Your responsibilities include preparing patients, venipuncture and micropuncture, routine equipment maintenance, maintaining supplies and performing quality control procedures as required.

Completion of diploma from an accredited program in Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technology (CLXT). Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Combined Laboratory and X-ray Technologists (ACCLXT).
Additional Required Qualifications:Participates in continuing education and training to maintain current knowledge. Demonstrates excellent organizational, problem-solving, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on client service and public relations. Always maintaining professionalism. Performs repetitive duties efficiently and accurately.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience in a Patient Service Center or Community Hospital Laboratory within the last 2 years is preferred. Experience with Clinitek Status for urinalysis. Experience with Gendex-Del GX 525 high-frequency CR X-ray tube with a Fujifilm CR reader and PEI. Experience with Beaker and Radiant Epic LIS systems is an asset.
