Your Opportunity:

This is a 0.8 FTE Combined Laboratory / Xray Technologist II position performs supervisor duties and bench duties in Daysland. Supervisor will be expected to work- days, weekends and take on call on a regular basis. Daysland is a beautiful small town with many enjoyable opportunities for family and friends. Quiet streets are lined with stately trees, and open space areas include a golf course, beautiful parks, and the scenic "Crocus Trail" walking path. Daysland has lots to offer We have most everything you will need and if not, it is close to major centers including Camrose, Red Deer, and Edmonton. Daysland's cultural life is one of the major attractions for current residents. We have many groups that are dedicated on a volunteer basis to enriching the lives of our community with a variety of cultural activity. Some of these include: the community theatre organization, a historical society, the agricultural society, and various religious organizations. The historic Palace Theatre is now providing weekly and monthly entertainment in cinema, theatre, musicals and visual art. Many Alberta and Canadian artists perform here for the enjoyment of our community. We have lots to offer children as well. SchoolsK-12, sports teams including hockey, baseball, soccer from April to June, Learn To Skate programs in the winter months, dance at the theatre twice a year, a theatre which offers kids movies, as well as two playgrounds which are both kid friendly.

Description:

As a Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technologist II, you will direct and supervise the day-to-day operation of department staff and services in their area. You will be responsible for the coordination, organization and operation of the site Laboratory and Diagnostic Imaging departments. You will also be responsible to perform site specific manual and automated laboratory procedures, diagnostic imaging exams, cardiology procedures and related duties following established standards and practice defined by the Alberta College of Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technologists (ACCLXT), College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) and Health Professions Act.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of diploma from an accredited program in Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technology (CLXT). Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Combined Laboratory and X-ray Technologists (ACCLXT).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Required to take call and live within 30 minutes of the facility when on call. Minimum of 5 years full time laboratory and diagnostic imaging experience. BLS Certification. Proven success performing administrative/supervisory functions in a diagnostic setting. Demonstrated desire and actions to further own knowledge relating to profession. Demonstrated experience with method or equipment evaluations including statistical analysis. Training and/or demonstrated experience related to quality improvement, conflict resolution and customer service. Extensive experience in use of computer systems, software applications. Experience in performing incident investigations and implementing corrective actions. Experience with Accreditation standards, implementation and addressing deficiencies. Demonstrated experience and or knowledge of Laboratory and DI Safety practices. Ability to give and receive constructive feedback. Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload, direct work assignments, and adapt to stressful situations using tact and diplomacy. Ability to influence others through well-developed oral and written communications. Ability to interpret, explain and apply applicable legislation, standards, policies and procedures. Good working knowledge of the HSAA collective agreements. Ability to work independently, and within a team, effectively managing his/her time and setting priorities when faced with multiple tasks and deadlines over a period of time.

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience. Completion of leadership courses. Experience with development and supervision of effective teams. Recent experience in the past two years: Mobile Radiography – GE Portable. DI- Carestream DXR Ascend X-ray unit, Kodak Direct View CR 850. Laboratory-ACL Elite Pro, Sysmex 1000i, Vitros XT3400, Clinitek Status, I-Stat, and Triage MeterPro. Muse, Agfa PACS, CardioDay, Connect Care, Wellsky, Unity Realtime and Caresphere.
