Completion of a Master of Medical Laboratory Science degree or a related scientific discipline.
Additional Required Qualifications:Master of Science degree in molecular genetics, molecular biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, or related discipline. Minimum five years of experience with a wide variety of molecular genetic techniques and analysis. Demonstrated experience in leadership/project management. Demonstrated experience in test method development. Proficient use of database/spreadsheet applications. Proven critical thinking, analytical, problem solving, planning, and decision making skills. Strong attention to detail as well as superior organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize work and deliver accurate work under stressful conditions. Demonstrated ability to deal with conflicting and changing priorities, deadlines, and duties. English fluency with exceptional verbal and written communication skills. A comparable combination of education and leadership/method development experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:CSMLS certification in Clinical Genetics is preferred. Current registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA) in Clinical Genetics, Cytogenetics or Molecular Genetics is preferred. Human cytogenetic technical and analytical experience including proper use of ISCN nomenclature is an asset.
