Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:Medical Laboratory Assistant certificate or Medical Laboratory Technologist diploma from an educational institute within Canada satisfactory to APL or MLA certification through CSMLS. Competency in phlebotomy. ECG certification. Proficiency in data entry. Excellent communication skills both orally and written, with ability to relate information or direction to appropriate personnel in an accurate, clear and concise manner. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills required; communication with patients, physicians and other healthcare professionals. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail. Canadian Equivalency to English 30 or 33 or CLBA score of Benchmark 8 completed within the last six months.
Preferred Qualifications:Outpatient experience within the past six months preferred, including customer service and specimen handling. Six months of phlebotomy experience with adult and pediatric patients within the past two years. Six months experience in performing ECGs within the past two years. Intermediate knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office suite programs.
