Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:Medical Laboratory Assistant certificate or Medical Laboratory Technologist diploma from an educational institute within Canada satisfactory to APL or MLA certification through CSMLS. Competency in phlebotomy, documented in last 2 years. May be required to pass a phlebotomy skills challenge. Proficiency in data entry, may be required to pass a skills challenge. Phlebotomy and data entry experience in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity within the last year. LIS experience (Millennium and/or Epic). Intermediate competency in Microsoft office. Physical ability (lifting and carrying 10 to 20 pounds, walking) and ability to be fitted to respirator. Any Canadian equivalency to English 30 or 33 or CLBA score of Benchmark 8 completed within the last 6 months. Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Search, satisfactory to APL valid within the last three months.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience in skin puncture and neonatal venipuncture in the last year. Knowledge and or training in Patient and Family Centered Care & Commitment to Comfort. Courses or certificates in personal leadership development, process improvement, change management. Certification with CSMLS, WHMIS 2015, IATA, Standard First Aid and CPR level C. Experience in customer service, interpersonal skills, effective time management, and the ability to set priorities are assets.
