Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.

Recent, relevant experience performing procedures in a core laboratory including: phlebotomy, specimen collection, preparation and referral of specimens. The ability to effectively communicate in English and provide excellent customer service is essential. Good organizational skills and ability to assume responsibility required. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently along with promoting good teamwork is required. Demonstrated initiative, good judgment, and attention to detail essential. Ability to work under pressure prioritizing workload, demonstrating tact and courtesy in dealing with patients, staff, and physicians required. Practices effective infection control, and safety techniques as applicable. Proficient computer skills. Ability to interpret, explain and apply applicable legislation, standards, policies and procedures, and maintain patient confidentiality. Receptive to new ideas and change. An excellent attendance record, reliability and personal suitability must be demonstrated through your employment references.

Experience in Meditech LIS, MUSE, Cardioday, WHMIS training, and TDG certification preferred.
