Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program. Phlebotomy experience is required. Working within a team environment, good interpersonal skills, effective time management and the ability to set priorities are necessary. Excellent communication skills both written and oral are required. Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, be adaptable and flexible within an environment of change and interruptions. Must be able to represent Laboratory Medicine in a respectful, professional, and courteous manner. The primary responsibilities of the Laboratory Assistant I include performing all aspects of the pre-analytical path of workflow including phlebotomy for adults, children and infants using both macro and micro techniques, accessioning patient specimens, troubleshooting problem specimens, performing ECGs, and reception duties. The successful candidate will provide support to the lab by collecting and processing quality specimens for analysis. Additional duties will also include performing a variety of routine microbiology laboratory-based tasks including handling and preparing specimens for processing, and testing, routine maintenance and quality control. The successful candidate must be quality oriented, organized individual offering creative and innovative solutions that positively contribute to a supportive and collaborative work environment.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience with EPIC Beaker LIS.
