Your Opportunity:
The Laboratory Assistant I provides front-line support for the Environmental Microbiology section of the Provincial Public Health Laboratory. As a Laboratory Assistant, you will perform a variety of laboratory functions which includes but is not limited to operating, cleaning, and maintaining technical equipment; participating in quality control and quality assurance activities and ensuring completion or required documentation; performs essential clerical duties such as entering and checking samples demographic information in the Laboratory Information System, filing worksheets and requisitions, answer phone calls, handles enquiries from clients to clarify test request for specimen processing and communicates report/sample information. You will help you team process a high volume of samples that are received for environmental testing.

As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.

Additional Required Qualifications:As required.
Preferred Qualifications:1 year recent experience in a large Microbiology laboratory. Understanding of aseptic techniques and molecular workflows.
