Your Opportunity:
Laboratory Assistant I will provide support to the laboratory, by collecting and processing quality specimens for analysis. Under the direct supervision of the Team Leaders, the primary responsibilities include collection of blood specimens from adults and children, using macro and micro phlebotomy techniques, receiving and sorting specimens upon receipt in the Lab, and reception duties. Other duties may include performing macro and micro urinalysis, pregnancy and occult blood testing, preparing specimens for transport, performing ECG’s, assisting in the orientation and teaching of new staff, co-workers and external clients, ensuring quality control and maintenance of equipment. Follows current laboratory policies and procedures, including Laboratory safety procedures.

As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:Accredited Urinalysis course including theory and practical. Accredited ECG course including theory and practical. Recent phlebotomy, ECG and urinalysis experience. Successful demonstration of laboratory skills is required.
Preferred Qualifications:Proficiency with the Epic/Beaker Laboratory Information Systems and general computer applications.
