The University of Alberta Hospital is looking to fill a Medical Laboratory Assistant I (MLA I) role where you, as the successful candidate, will have the opportunity to work both independently and as a member of our team where you are responsible for performing all aspects within the scope of practice of an MLA I. With a customer service focused approach, you build productive and respectful customer relations and take responsibility for customer satisfaction while completing reception duties. You will be responsible for collecting specimens from a wide range of patients. You have an ability to encourage others and build positive, respectful and collaborative working relationships while assisting in the orientation and training of new staff, coworkers and external clients. As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.
