Your Opportunity:
Edmonton Core Lab, Alberta Precision Laboratories consists of distinct testing areas for Chemistry, Hematology and Urinalysis. The successful candidate will work in all testing areas and will experience a high volume, well organized, efficient environment with strict quality control guidelines in place to ensure the best possible patient care. The department relies heavily on team work to meet operational requirements. Functions, responsibilities, and requirements of this position include being receptive, adaptable, and flexible within an environment of change and interruptions. Shifts comprise of 7.75 hours and rotation includes days, evenings, and weekends. As workload demands and operational requirements change, the shift rotation may change. Other Information: To perform inventory duties requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Testing in Urinalysis requires completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent that includes clinical training in urinalysis.
Description:
As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:Experience working as a Medical Laboratory Assistant using an automated urinalysis system, including macroscopic and microscopic analysis within the last 12 months, or student experience within the last 12 months.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience preparing samples for loading on instrumentation is an asset. Experience performing small equipment maintenance is an asset. Experience with Inventory Management is an asset.
