The Pre and Post Analytics (PPA) department is a dynamic, non-patient-facing area that operates 24/7, 365 days a year. As the central hub for specimen processing in the North and Central Zones, as well as the Northwest Territories and Nunavut, the department handles high daily volumes, with over 400 toolboxes arriving each day. Lab Assistants play a critical role in this fast-paced environment, rotating through various shifts and key workstations including: Data entry Specimen receiving and sorting Specimen Delivery Phone room duties This is a busy and collaborative team that thrives on strong communication, adaptability, and teamwork. Staff in this department are essential to the healthcare system, working behind the scenes to ensure specimens are accurately documented, handled, and routed in a timely and efficient manner. Attention to detail and reliability are vital, as the department’s operations directly impact laboratory turnaround times and overall patient care outcomes.
Description:
As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.
