Your Opportunity:

The Edmonton Core Lab includes specialized testing areas for Chemistry, Hematology, and Urinalysis. The successful candidate will work across all these areas in a high-volume, well-organized, and efficient environment, where strict quality control guidelines are in place to ensure optimal patient care. Teamwork is essential to meet operational demands. Candidates must be receptive, adaptable, and flexible, especially in an environment that experiences frequent changes and interruptions. Shifts are 7.75 hours in length and rotate through days, evenings, and the occasional stat holiday. As workload and operational needs evolve, shift rotations may also change. Additional Information: Inventory duties may require lifting up to 50 lbs. Urinalysis testing requires completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program (or equivalent), including clinical training in urinalysis.

Description:

As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Experience working with an automated urinalysis system, including both macroscopic and microscopic analysis, within the past 24 months — or experience as a student with clinical training within the past 24 months as part of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience preparing and loading samples onto automated instrumentation is an asset. Experience performing small equipment maintenance is an asset. Experience with Inventory Management is an asset.
