A grade 12 high school diploma is required. Graduation from a recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant training program or equivalent is required. Current Basic Life Support certification is required. Recent phlebotomy experience is required. Connect Care Rover training is required. Successful demonstration of laboratory and data entry skills is required. Working within a team environment, good interpersonal skills, effective time management and the ability to set priorities are necessary. The successful candidate must be adaptable and flexible within an environment of change and interruptions. The candidate selected will have the ability to listen, comprehend and orally respond to or relay information, directions or questions in person, over the phone, or in writing in an accurate, clear and concise manner. The successful candidate must represent Alberta Precision Laboratories in a respectful, professional and courteous manner.
Description:
As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:Completion of a recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant or related healthcare program. Current Basic Life Support certification is required. Demonstrated proficiency in laboratory procedures and data entry is required. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment are essential. Proven time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic setting are necessary. Recent phlebotomy experience is essential. The successful candidate must be adaptable and flexible in an environment that is subject to frequent change and interruptions. Excellent communication skills are required, including the ability to listen, comprehend, and respond clearly and accurately—whether in person, by phone, or in writing. The candidate must consistently demonstrate a professional, respectful, and courteous demeanor, representing the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology with integrity. Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods. Frequent bending, reaching, and moderate lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required. Manual dexterity is essential for handling specimens and performing phlebotomy. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
Preferred Qualifications:Recent phlebotomy experience within the last 6 months. Knowledge and training in EPIC-Beaker. Recent experience in using Rover within the last 6 months.
