Your Opportunity:
The successful candidate will provide support at the Cross Cancer Institute laboratory by collecting and processing quality specimens for analysis. The primary responsibilities of the Laboratory Assistant I includes collection of blood specimens from cancer care patients and performing ECGs. The Cross Cancer Institute laboratory has a robust Outpatient Collection Department and also provides service to the Inpatient Unit and various Ambulatory Clinics.
Description:
As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:Must have a recent demonstrated experience - practicum or working experience - with performing phlebotomy and ECGs within the last year (12 months).
Preferred Qualifications:Demonstrated experience with EPIC Beaker - practicum or working experience - within the last year is strongly preferred. Demonstrated experience with collecting research kits and performing collections for clinical trials is preferred.
