Your Opportunity:
You’re a laboratory professional with a keen eye for detail and an affinity for hands-on laboratory practices- just the person we need in the Anatomic Pathology gross room at Edmonton Base Lab! In your role as a Histology Assistant, you will contribute to the team by performing specimen acceptance, gross description, and dissection of surgical and post-mortem tissue specimens. A focus on quality assurance, critical thinking, and problem-solving is essential. We are seeking a reliable and efficient candidate with strong interpersonal skills. Duties include: handling and preparing tissue for routine or specialized processing, performing specimen acceptance, grossing, specimen filing, discard, decalcification, tissue processor loading, routine maintenance and trouble-shooting of various lab instruments. Other duties may be assigned as appropriate.
Description:
As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.

Preferred Qualifications:Recent experience in Anatomic Pathology within the past 6 months as Medical Laboratory Assistant I.
