Your Opportunity:
Join the Edmonton Zone Medical Lab Assistant team! The successful candidate will apply comprehensive knowledge and experience to act as a resource for staff competency and coaching, participating in local and regional initiatives, as well as assisting with training new employees and students. In addition to bench work you will utilize leadership skills to ensure proper staffing, organized workflow and area safety. Responsibilities will also include payroll, staff scheduling, maintenance and ordering of supplies/reagents, quality control review and reporting. You will work closely with the MLT IIs and Clinical Supervisors in day-to-day operations and troubleshooting, and to ensure area protocols are followed to maintain accreditation standards. The successful candidate will also need to provide coverage for the LAI duties as needed, which include accessioning, handling, processing, dispatching and testing specimens, answering phones and directing inquiries, troubleshooting samples that do not meet sample acceptance criteria, and assisting in the gross room. Anatomic Pathology is a hands-on department that is a great place to learn about patient care and see some of the most interesting cases that come to lab. We have a diverse team - with MLAs, MLTs, PAs, pathologists, residents, and many learners on site. Description:
As a Laboratory Assistant II, you will perform advanced preanalytical or analytical techniques on specimen/samples or coordinate, prioritize, monitor, and assign duties of laboratory staff in your assigned area. You will resolve escalated issues, conduct quality control investigations and maintain technical and operational procedures. You will be responsible for ensuring laboratory staff maintain compliance with policies and procedures and will provide coaching and feedback to staff and students.

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program.
Additional Required Qualifications:Recent and relevant experience in Anatomic Pathology as an MLA I or MLA II. Comprehensive knowledge of Anatomic Pathology workflows in Epic - Beaker.
Preferred Qualifications:Thorough understanding of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
