Completion of a Master of Medical Laboratory Science degree or a related scientific discipline.
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum 3 years’ experience in a clinical laboratory is preferred. Proficiency and experience with manual techniques including optimization and validation of PCR sequencing techniques, next-generation sequencing (NGS) assays and NGS bioinformatics is preferred. Competency with windows-based computer applications (ex. Microsoft Office, database/spreadsheet applications) and mathematical calculations is required. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and within a team environment. The individual must have proven effective time management and organizational skills, and be a strong team player committed to providing quality patient care. The successful candidate must be quality focused and have very good attention to details and be aware of laboratory accreditation requirements. The individual must understand and maintain a working knowledge of analytical techniques and demonstrate excellent problem solving and decision making skills. Your communication and interpersonal skills must enable you to build and maintain relationships, facilitate teamwork, resolve conflict and manage change. The successful candidate will represent Alberta Precision Laboratories, as part of Alberta Health Services, in a respectful, professional and courteous manner.
Preferred Qualifications:Current experience with laboratory scientist activities, including the development, validation and implementation of Molecular Pathology laboratory equipment is strongly preferred. Recent experience with Epic Beaker, SoftTech and Traccess is preferred. Knowledge of pre-analytical testing processes, laboratory safety procedures, test method/process evaluation, equipment evaluation, literature review, quality control, proficiency testing, and document writing is preferred.
