Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Current experience in Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Transfusion Medicine and Specimen Procurement is required. The position includes days, evenings, and weekends; required to take call and live within 30 minutes of the facility when on call. Must have the ability to effectively communicate in English, with strong interpersonal and communication skills. This includes the ability to demonstrate tact and courtesy when dealing with coworkers, patients, physicians and leadership. Requires strong organizational skills and ability to assume responsibility, work independently and promote good teamwork under pressure and in emergencies. Demonstrate ability to prioritize workload and adapt to stressful situations by showing initiative, good judgment and attention to detail. Practices effective infection control, and safety techniques as applicable. Proficient computer skills. Demonstrate desire and actions to further own knowledge relating to professional development. Ability to interpret, explain and apply applicable legislation, standards, policies and procedures. Receptive to new ideas and change.

Preferred Qualifications:

Working within a Healthcare setting. Experience with Connect Care (Beaker) LIS. Operating and troubleshooting: Vitros 350/XT3400, Vitros ECI, Dxh600, ACL Elite Pro, iSTAT, and Triage.
