Your Opportunity:
The successful candidate will participate in the receipt, selection, examination and dissection of surgical and biopsy specimens for routine histology, specialized histology procedures, education and/or research projects. Working in a team environment, duties include support of co-workers, ensuring accurate patient data records, following and maintaining established quality control procedures, providing assistance to pathologists and pathology residents during the performance of gross examination and dissection of specimens, performing gross description and dissection of surgical and biopsy specimens according to standardized dissection protocols. Assistance with performing frozen sections, including slide staining, will also be required. The technologist must be able to operate and maintain equipment associated with the tasks involved.
Description:
As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) I, you will be responsible for the daily processing, testing, results analysis and reporting of diagnostic samples within the laboratory department. You will perform a variety of routine and specialized procedures in the processing of specimens used in diagnosis, treatment and research.

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).
Additional Required Qualifications:2 to 3 years relevant knowledge and experience in Histology as a Medical Laboratory Technologist a benefit. Specialized knowledge and experience in Laboratory Information Systems applications. PC software and hardware skills, including Vantage, are considered beneficial.
Preferred Qualifications:Effective time management, strong organizational skills, excellent problem solving, decision making, troubleshooting and communication skills are required. Ability to prioritize successfully in a demanding environment is essential.
