Your Opportunity:
This position is an excellent opportunity for any individual who would like to perform a variety of technical processes associated with Anatomical Pathology. Duties include but are not limited to: Handling and preparing tissue for routine or specialized processing, performing frozen sections and assisting in intraoperative consultations, grossing of specimens up to CPL 4, preparing more complex specimens prior to shipping the specimen offsite for grossing by a Pathologist Assistant, performing routine equipment maintenance, troubleshooting of various laboratory instruments and quality control activities. Other duties may be assigned as appropriate. The Anatomica Pathology department at the Sturgeon Community Hospital site is a small department giving the candidate an opportunity to work independently while being supported by a laboratory assistant, medical site lead and supervisors. This is a multi-site position which may include rotation to the University of Alberta Hospital, Cross Cancer Institute and/or Royal Alexandra Hospital.
Description:
As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) I, you will be responsible for the daily processing, testing, results analysis and reporting of diagnostic samples within the laboratory department. You will perform a variety of routine and specialized procedures in the processing of specimens used in diagnosis, treatment and research.

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).
Additional Required Qualifications:As Required.
Preferred Qualifications:Previous experience in Anatomic Pathology. Previous experience with Epic. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
