Your Opportunity:

Under the direction of the Laboratory Manager and Clinical Supervisor, Alberta Precision Laboratories is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Laboratory Technologist I to join our collaborative and patient-focused team. This role is ideal for professionals who thrive in a fast-paced environment and are passionate about delivering high-quality diagnostic services. Perform specimen analysis using automated and manual methods across core laboratory departments: Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, and Transfusion Medicine. Validate results and ensure accuracy through participation in internal and external quality control programs. Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory instruments following established procedures to ensure optimal performance. Ensure accurate patient information and specimen processing. Demonstrate a strong understanding of analytical techniques and maintain current technical knowledge. Support orientation and training of new staff, students, and medical residents under the guidance of Technologist II. Monitor and organize daily workflows, adapting to fluctuations in workload. Exhibit leadership, teamwork, and maintain a professional demeanor at all times.

Description:

As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) I, you will be responsible for the daily processing, testing, results analysis and reporting of diagnostic samples within the laboratory department. You will perform a variety of routine and specialized procedures in the processing of specimens used in diagnosis, treatment and research.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Current registration or eligibility for registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA). Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of Laboratory Information Systems (Epic & WellSky) is preferred. Experience with Sysmex & Cellavision Hematology analyzer, ACL Top Coagulation analyzer, Roche Cobas Chemistry analyzer, and GeneXpert is preferred. Experience in Transfusion Medicine and Ortho Vision Swift analyzer & Ortho Optixx workstation preferred.
