Join the Edmonton Zone Anatomic Pathology team! With the primary site at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, and an additional site at the Sturgeon Community Hospital, this position is an excellent opportunity for anyone who would like to perform a range of technical processes associated with Anatomical Pathology. The successful candidate for this position will participate in performing frozen sections, including slide staining, the receipt, selection, examination and dissection of surgical and biopsy specimens for routine histology, specialized histology procedures, education and/or research projects. Working in a team environment, duties include support of co-workers, teaching students, ensuring accurate patient data records, following and maintaining established quality control procedures, providing assistance to pathologists and pathology residents during the performance of gross examination and dissection of specimens, performing gross description and dissection of surgical and biopsy specimens according to standardized dissection protocols. The technologist must be able to operate and maintain equipment associated with the tasks involved.

As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) I, you will be responsible for the daily processing, testing, results analysis and reporting of diagnostic samples within the laboratory department. You will perform a variety of routine and specialized procedures in the processing of specimens used in diagnosis, treatment and research.

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).
Additional Required Qualifications:Effective time management, strong organizational skills, excellent problem solving, decision making, troubleshooting and communication skills are required. Ability to prioritize successfully in a demanding environment is essential.
Preferred Qualifications:2 to 3 years relevant knowledge and experience in Histology as a Medical Laboratory Technologist a benefit. Specialized knowledge and experience in Laboratory Information Systems applications such as EPIC.
