The FMC AP Esoteric department is looking for a Laboratory Technologist II (MLTII) - Team Lead role. The department has seen a lot of changes over the last few years, and we are looking for an open-minded, adaptable, resilient, collaborative, and motivational leader to help our team move forward into the future. We have an incredible and knowledgeable team of MLTs, MLAs, pathologists’ and histology assistants, and administrative support personnel to do the day-to-day work of the department, as such this position will be primarily responsible for supporting, developing and leading our MLT team. You will be responsible for staff schedules and timesheet review; liaising with D.I. and clinics to ensure needs of patients are being met by AP; ensure equipment maintenance and documentation is completed on a regular basis; work with the Quality team and AP working groups to develop and update SOPs; assist with accreditation preparation; participate in provincial and local working groups; assist with staff performance, coaching and training; submit and investigate RLSs and quality issues; and other duties (including MLTI) as required by the department. Please note that this position will be required to participate in weekend on-call rotation.

Description:

As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) II, you will coordinate the day-to-day operations and the quality control function of the laboratory. You may have advanced technical knowledge or are the lead responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of Laboratory Information System (LIS) support, site education, quality assurance or laboratory research programs. Your responsibilities may include coordinating, prioritizing, monitoring and assigning work to MLT l's, providing technical advice, problem solving and trouble shooting on a variety of laboratory instruments. In addition, you will participate in the technical aspects of the laboratory, ensuring the performance of standard and specialized procedures.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Formal leadership training: either courses or a program encompassing conflict resolution, change management, engagement and collaboration, coaching, or healthcare specific leadership. Current or recent experience in healthcare. Knowledge of accreditation standards and accreditation preparation activities or experience with accreditation. Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience in Anatomic Pathology. Experience in AP - Esoteric areas (Renal, Neuro and/or EM.)
