Are you ready for an exciting and fast-paced opportunity? As a Medical Laboratory Technologist II (MLT II), you will oversee the daily operations and quality control activities within the laboratory. In this role, you will coordinate, prioritize, monitor, and assign work to MLT I staff, while providing technical guidance, troubleshooting, and problem-solving for a variety of laboratory instruments. You will actively participate in the technical aspects of laboratory testing, ensuring accuracy and consistency in both standard and specialized procedures. Responsibilities include performing and documenting quality control and assurance practices, ensuring compliance with established standards. You will also develop and review technical procedures to meet accreditation requirements, and provide leadership, feedback, and coaching to staff. This position requires adherence to health and safety protocols, as well as facilitation of work schedules and bench rotations to maintain effective operational coverage. You will also ensure compliance with the collective agreement and uphold fiscal responsibility.
Description:
As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) II, you will coordinate the day-to-day operations and the quality control function of the laboratory. You may have advanced technical knowledge or are the lead responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of Laboratory Information System (LIS) support, site education, quality assurance or laboratory research programs. Your responsibilities may include coordinating, prioritizing, monitoring and assigning work to MLT l's, providing technical advice, problem solving and trouble shooting on a variety of laboratory instruments. In addition, you will participate in the technical aspects of the laboratory, ensuring the performance of standard and specialized procedures.

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum 3 years Hematology experience within the last 5 years.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience with the following will be considered an asset. Previous experience working as a Hematology Tech II in the last 5 years. Change management courses, inventory management, method validation and LIS verification, coordinates and maintains regular communication with stakeholders, submission and investigation of proficiency tests, SOP development and revision, and leadership courses. Hub lab experience is preferred.
