Your Opportunity:

Working closely with the Laboratory Manager and Clinical Supervisor you will provide leadership in the daily operation of Core Laboratory services at the Grey Nuns Hospital. The role focuses primarily on hematology and coagulation, while also assuming responsibility for the full scope of Core Laboratory operations. As a Laboratory Technologist II (MLT II) you will be responsible for providing technical expertise within the department, supporting MLT I’s and MLA I’s within the laboratory and ensuring compliance with Standard Operating Procedures. As Core Lab Tech II, you will be responsible for recognizing and resolving operational, technical, and quality issues while maintaining a collaborative and supportive team environment. This includes activities such as implementation, validation, and staff training for new instruments and procedures. The successful candidate will require strong organizational skills and ability to assume responsibility. They must be able to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with patients/clients, staff, interdisciplinary team members, and personnel from other departments in a fast-paced and changing environment. Must demonstrate interest in professional growth and be able to maintain competency of technical skills.

Description:

As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) II, you will coordinate the day-to-day operations and the quality control function of the laboratory. You may have advanced technical knowledge or are the lead responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of Laboratory Information System (LIS) support, site education, quality assurance or laboratory research programs. Your responsibilities may include coordinating, prioritizing, monitoring and assigning work to MLT l's, providing technical advice, problem solving and trouble shooting on a variety of laboratory instruments. In addition, you will participate in the technical aspects of the laboratory, ensuring the performance of standard and specialized procedures.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum of 3 years of MLT work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous supervisory experience. Leadership training/courses is an asset. Previous experience with analyzer and LIS validation. Experience with accreditation processes. Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory safety procedures. Experience in performing incident investigations and implementing corrective actions. Experience working with: Sysmex XN-10, ACL Top 350, Roche Cobas Pro analyzers.
