Laboratory Technologist II

Your Opportunity:

Help clinicians and patients diagnose and manage disease in Alberta Precision Laboratories’ (APL’s) busy rural communities by joining our South Zone team. Here you will be responsible for using advanced technical skills and judgement to assist South Zone Rural Lab site supervisors with development and implementation of diagnostic processes, procedures in conjunction with Pathologists and laboratory managers. You’re an analytical, organized lab technologist who works well under pressure and will support lab administration duties to include testing, staffing, training and feedback, quality control programs, scheduling, costing and ordering supplies as needed. This position is responsible for identifying results, issues, or situations that require escalation to the Clinical Supervisor, Manager, Director, Clinical Chemists, or Pathologists. The role will primarily support laboratory processes within Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, and Specimen Pre- and Post-Analytics, while also contributing to other laboratory areas as required. As an excellent problem-solver, you can adapt, prioritize, and manage your time while ensuring lab and organizational policy compliance, including quality control and quality assurance procedures. Description:

As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) II, you will coordinate the day-to-day operations and the quality control function of the laboratory. You may have advanced technical knowledge or are the lead responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of Laboratory Information System (LIS) support, site education, quality assurance or laboratory research programs. Your responsibilities may include coordinating, prioritizing, monitoring and assigning work to MLT l's, providing technical advice, problem solving and trouble shooting on a variety of laboratory instruments. In addition, you will participate in the technical aspects of the laboratory, ensuring the performance of standard and specialized procedures.
