Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).
Additional Required Qualifications:Three to five years laboratory experience (within the last 5 years) in a mid-complexity laboratory setting with special emphasis on knowledge and understanding of Quality Management Systems. Knowledge and experience in chemistry, hematology, or microbiology. Extensive knowledge and understanding of external assessment requirements, document management systems (e.g. SoftTech or Paradigm DMS), proficiency testing, troubleshooting complex problems, laboratory performance measures, non-conforming event management, quality improvement initiatives, communications and presentations, and conducting effective meetings. Position also requires a thorough understanding of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta Standards for Diagnostic Laboratory Accreditation as well as the College of American Pathologists Accreditation Program and Checklists. Additionally, knowledge of the steps a department must take to ensure they are compliant with all applicable accreditation standards is required. Intermediate to advanced MS Office skills required. Proven time management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:Demonstrated organizational, analytical reasoning, and decision-making skills. Attainment of a Quality Management System Certificate or equivalent post-secondary education in Quality Management Systems, or knowledge of Quality Management Systems. Knowledge and use of the APL Reporting and Learning System (RLS) for reporting, investigation and improvement activities. Project management skills.
