You’re well-acquainted with laboratory processes and workflows, and capably lead others in providing accurate and efficient lab services. Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) has an exciting opportunity to lead and contribute to optimum laboratory outcomes as the Clinical Manager overseeing Hematology, Transfusion Medicine, Chemistry, Pathology, and Microbiology at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre (RDRHC) Laboratory. This site is also a referral site for surrounding rural laboratories and physician clinics. In this key leadership role, you will oversee the operational activities and management of the RDRHC laboratory. Working collaboratively with the operational and medical leadership team, internal and external partners, you will lead and promote significant APL initiatives, programs, and policies as you provide leadership for a team of over 190 laboratory staff. Description:

The Clinical Manager for the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre (RDRHC) Laboratory is a key leadership role. Reporting to the Director, Urban Hospital Laboratories, South Sector, and in partnership with the Laboratory Medical Director of the site, you will contribute to the APL strategic and business plan, lead an interdisciplinary team of laboratory professionals and support staff, and prudently manage the fiscal, material, and human resources of RDRHC. The Clinical Manager contributes to the development, implementation and evaluation of the APL strategic plan and priorities for the APL business plan. You recognize challenges and opportunities as you set priorities and manage improvement initiatives. You effectively use change management processes, recognizing the impact on internal and external stakeholders, and engage them in the process. You will be responsible to plan work activities and to take independent action in managing the quality of work performed within the RDRHC. You foster a positive, high-performance, collaborative work environment with a strong commitment to quality, consistency, improvement, and innovation with a patient care focus. An excellent communicator, you provide leadership through ethical decision making, and demonstrate a commitment to achieving established goals and objectives while upholding industry standards and outcome measurements. Acting as a liaison with site clinical programs, you will ensure alignment of laboratory services with clinical requirements.

Required Qualifications:

Post-Secondary Diploma or Degree in a Health-related field, or Health Care Administration. Minimum 5 years health related experience working in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Evidence of progressive leadership and professional development.


Preferred Qualifications:

Post-Secondary Diploma or Degree from a recognized School of Medical Laboratory Technology. Registration with College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA). Experience working in a clinical laboratory setting. Experience and knowledge of acute care and community setting. Previous management experience in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity.
