Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program.
Additional Required Qualifications:Proficiency in data entry. Competency in phlebotomy. May be required to pass a phlebotomy skills challenge to the satisfaction of APL. Any Canadian equivalency to English 30 or 33 or CLBA score of Benchmark 8 completed within the last six months. Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Search, satisfactory to APL valid within the last three months. Prolonged standing, walking and bending is required.
Preferred Qualifications:Phlebotomy experience in a hospital, within the last year preferred. Experience in neonatal skin puncture. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs and Outlook Web Access. Experience with Cerner Millennium. Courses or certificates in personal leadership development. Courses or training in process improvement or change management. Able to lift, carry, push or pull objects weighing more than 20lbs. Prolonged standing, walking and bending is required.
