Your Opportunity:
Serving the patient population of the Cross Cancer Institute as a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) I, you will be responsible for the daily processing, analysis and reporting of clinical research and laboratory specimens following established procedures and within required turn-around times. Responsibilities also include monitoring department supply inventory and quality control, equipment troubleshooting and maintenance, patient records management, participating in the training and orientation of staff and performing related duties as required within the core laboratory department.
Description:
As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) I, you will be responsible for the daily processing, testing, results analysis and reporting of diagnostic samples within the laboratory department. You will perform a variety of routine and specialized procedures in the processing of specimens used in diagnosis, treatment and research.

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).
Additional Required Qualifications:The ability to prioritize and work independently, as well as in a group, is required. The successful candidate shall be well-organized, flexible and able to work under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications:Minimum 1-year experience (in the past year) in Hematology is preferred. Previous experience with the Cross Cancer Institute workflow is a major asset. Demonstrated experience with bone marrow sample processing, handling, and bone marrow slide preparation is an asset. Recent experience (within the last 5 years) within the past year with EPIC Beaker, Vitros XT3400, and Sysmex XN-1000 analyzers, Cellavision, Caresphere, Unity Real Time, and Clinitek Advantus is strongly preferred.
